Orangeburg, SC – The South Carolina State University women’s softball team will open its 2010 season this weekend at the 3rd Annual Tiny Laster’s Fastpitch Softball Tournament.
The tournament, which is scheduled for Friday – Sunday, Feb. 12-14 in Atlanta, GA, will feature eight teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), and five teams from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC). In addition to South Carolina State participants from the MEAC include Morgan State, Hampton University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Norfolk State, Florida A&M, Winston Salem State and North Carolina A&T. The teams representing the SWAC are Grambling State University, Tennessee State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Alabama A&M University, and Alcorn State University.

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina men’s and women’s basketball team will host Hampton University, tomorrow (Sat. Feb. 6), in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) doubleheader, which gets underway at 2 p.m. with the women's contest at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center. The men’s game will follow approximately at 4 p.m. The women’s game is designated as the WBCA PinkZone® game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. All fans are asked to wear pink in support of the initiative.

Orangeburg, SC—Jebreh Harris has been named assistant cross-country/track and field coach at South Carolina State. Harris began his duties on February 1.
Harris joins the SC State staff after serving the past season five seasons (2004-2009) as a volunteer-assistant coach at his alma mater University of Tennessee-Knoxville (UT). While at UT, Harris also served several years as a track coach with the Knoxville Track Club working with the youth program. He also has spent time as a sports specific/personal trainer (Performance Training Inc.) Where he has trained several world class athletes and designed workout for clients with particular needs.

ORANGEBURG, SC -- The South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs will have a different look when they step on the floor on this Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at 2 p.m. in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match-up against the Hampton University Lady Pirates. SC State is among approximately 1,100 schools that have joined forces with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) in an effort bring more awareness to the fight against breast cancer during the WBCA Pink Zone® week. The Lady Bulldogs will be wearing pink uniforms as they support the initiative.
