Orangeburg, SC--Winston-Salem State University swept SC State University in a softball double-header, 6-1 and 4-2, at the Lady Bulldog Softball Field on the campus of SC State University.
The Lady Rams (12-23) scored all six of their runs of the first game in the top of the second inning while allowing just one run from the Lady Bulldogs (6-25) in the bottom half of the inning. Neither team would score another run thus giving Winston-Salem State the 6-1 victory.
SC State got on the scoreboard first in game two, scoring two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Winston-Salem State countered with two runs in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game. The Lady Rams would score two additional runs in the top of the sixth which proved to be enough to secure the 4-2 victory and the sweep of the double-header.
Amber Shore picked up both the wins on the day while Kimberlee Pereira and Raven Johnson were the losers for SC State in games one and two respectively.
SC State will close out its 2009 home season tomorrow at 12 noon in a single game against Winston-Salem State. This will be senior day for the Lady Bulldogs. Four members of the team will be honored in a pre-game ceremony beginning at 11:45 am.
