Virginia Beach, VA (5-13-10)—Juniors Tonya Giles and Denitia Carter has earned 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) postseason honors, as announced by the conference office last week. Carter and Giles were honored during the 2010 MEAC Softball Championships this past weekend.
Giles, a 5-2, utility from Atlanta, GA was named to the 2010 Second Team All-Conference. She finished the 2010 season third in batting average and fielding percentage at .262 and .946 respectively. She recorded 17 runs and 47 hits.
Carter, a 5-4 outfielder from Atlanta, GA, was also named to the 2010 Second Team All-Conference. Carter finished the regular season first in the conference and 39th in the nation in stolen bases with 24 of 27. Carter was also second for the Lady Bulldogs in batting average and fielding percentage with averages of .292 and .935 respectively. She finished the season second on the team in on base percentage at .337.
Giles and Carter help lead SC State to the MEAC post-season tournament for the first time since the 2005 season.
