COLUMBIA, SC—The South Carolina State men's basketball team face a tough test when it opens the 2022-23 season against intrastate rival and SEC foe South Carolina at Colonial Life Arena on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The game will air on the SEC Network.
First-year head coach Erik Martin and the Bulldogs will play their first 11 games of the season on the road including South Carolina (11/8), Tennessee State (11/12), *Duquesne (11/14),* Kentucky (11/17), *North Florida (11/19)-*all part of the MTE Classic, Wake Forest (11/23), Western Kentucky (11/26), East Carolina (11/29), Furman (12/3), Winthrop (12/6) and USC-Upstate on Dec.10
th.
The Bulldogs return home for a pair of non-conference games versus UNC-Asheville on Dec. 13
th and Samford on Dec.17
th. before hitting the road again to face Longwood (Dec. 20
th) and Texas Tech (Dec.27
th)
Non-Conference opponent St. Andrews will make a visit to Orangeburg on Dec 30
th to close out the holiday break.
South Carolina State opens the new year with Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contests on the road at Coppin State (1/7/23) and Morgan State (1/9/23) in Baltimore, Maryland, followed by a trip to Durham, NC to take on the Eagles of NC Central on Jan. 14
th.
UMES (1/21/23) and Delaware State (1/23/23) will make a visit to Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center before returning to the road to face Norfolk State (1/28/22) in Norfolk VA and Howard (1/30/23) in Washington, DC.
The Bulldogs will have five remaining home games and two away to close out the regular season, beginning with Coppin State (2/11/23), Morgan State (2/13/23) and road stops at UMES (2/18/23) in Princess Anne, MD, and Delaware State (2/20/23) in Dover, DE.
The final three-game home stretch will include Norfolk State (2/25/23), Howard (2/27/23) and North Carolina Central (3/2/23) in Orangeburg, before the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament play on March 8
th-March 11
th in Norfolk, VA at the Scope Arena.
