ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Department of Athletics, along with various departments around campus, conducted a successful "Weekend of Champions" events April 22-24 on the campus of South Carolina State University. 
 
Beginning Friday with a "Night of Celebrations with The Champions," over 360 guests were in attendance to watch, and participate, as the
 
Some of the former SCSU football greats who returned to present awards included All-Pro standouts Robert Porcher, Darius Leonard, Dwayne Harper, Edwin Bailey, Charlie Brown just to name a few.
 
Also, Interim President Alex Conyers, along with First Lady Agatha Conyers, as well as members of the Board of Trustees and community leaders came out to show their support for this historic event. 
 
Saturday was no different as the 2021 HBCU National Champions, along with champions from other sports, where honored at the "Coco-Cola Parade of Champions" in a special celebration through the campus. The parade ended with a "Tribute to the Champions" on the Bulldog Practice Field. 
 
Along with honoring the champions, South Carolina State held its Spring Open House. More than 1,800 participants from all over came out to learn more about the illustrious university and enjoy the overall Bulldog experience.  
 
The HBCU National Champions did not disappoint that afternoon in their annual "Garnet & Blue Spring" game inside Oliver C. Dawson Stadium/Willie Jeffries Field. The Offense proved to be a force on the field outlasting the defense in a 21-13 win on the day. 
 
In addition to the fun and exciting of the aforementioned events, The S.T.A.TE Club held its annual membership drive with food trucks and a DJ on hand to entertain the attendees on this exciting day.  A special concert after the spring game was held on the Bulldog practice field to wrap up the day.
