Bulldogs Open MEAC Play This Weekend

BALTIMORE, MD – ThSouth Carolina State men's basketball team open up Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play on the road in a three-game slate, beginning with Coppin State Saturday (Jan.7th) Physical Education Complex Arena Tip-off is 4 p.m.

The series between the two schools are tied 35-35, with South Carolina State winning the last outing 66-58 on Feb.12th, 2022 in Orangeburg, SC. Senior guard Rahsaan Edwards led the way with a team-high 15 points in the win.

Coppin State (5-12 overall, 0-0) look to snap a three-game losing skid after an 57-90 defeat to Rutgers in their last outing on the road. Meanwhile, SC State (3-13) is coming off an impressive 111-58 victory over St. Andrews at home to close out non-conference play.

The Bulldogs have been without leading scorer Lesown Hallums (12.3 ppg), who is out due to an injury is set to return shortly along with DaJuan Bates (11.0 ppg).

Rakeim Gary chips in 12.3 points along side Cameron Jones at 11.0 ppg. Sophomore forward Davion Everett is the leader on the boards at 6.4.

The Eagles are led by All-MEAC performer Sam Sessions at 22.2 ppg, while teammate Nendah Tarke contributes 11.9. Tarke is also the leader at 5.9 rebounds.

UP NEXT: South Carolina State remains in Baltimore, MD to take a Morgan State Monday (Jan.9th) in another Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference showdown.

The Bulldogs open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play Jan 7th versus Coppin State and Jan 9th versus Morgan State In Baltimore, Maryland.
