DOVER, DE—The South Carolina State men's basketball team will embark on a pair of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) road contest beginning with Delaware State Saturday (Jan. 27), followed my Maryland-Eastern Shore on Monday (Jan.29).
SERIES: SC State leads the series 10-7 over host Delaware State dating back to 2008. SCSU looks to snap a two-game losing skid to the Hornets after dropping back-to-back defeats 68-69 in Dover, DE (2/20/23) and 85-88 in Orangeburg, SC (1/23/23)
The Bulldogs (5-14 overall, 1-2) are coming off an impressive 71-68 win over top-ranked North Carolina Central (Jan. 20) in their last outing. Junior guard
Michael Teal led the way with a team-high 17 points in the win.
SCSU is led by
Davion Everett with 9.1 ppg, while guard
Mitchell Taylor and
Wilson Dubinsky chip in 8.0 points each respectively.
Meanwhile, DSU enters the contest as one of the hottest teams in the league at 10-9 overall, 3-0 in the league. The Hornets are on a four-game winning streak with MEAC wins over Coppin State (55-53), Morgan State (78-66) and UMES (67-63 OT).
Martaz Robinson is the leader at 17.6 ppg, while Jevin Muniz averages 14.4 and Deywik Tavarez at 10.4 points per outing.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State will conclude the two-game road swing at UMES on Jan. 29 in Princess Anne, MD. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. immediately following the women's contest in a 5:30 p.m. start.
