ORANGEBURG, SC – We had the chance to sit down with former SC State women's basketball player Jaquanna Murray. Coach Murray is in her first season as assistant women's basketball coach after a three-year stint with Mississippi Valley State. During her collegiate career at SC State, Murray was an outstanding rebounder and the leading shot blocker in Lady Bulldog history. She extended her basketball career as a professional athlete overseas in Ostrava, Czech Republic for SBS Ostrava.
- What is your favorite hobby? I like to do Lego sets and Netflix.
- Why did you choose SC State as a player and coach? It's home and I'm from here, it feels good to come back and coach at my alma mater. As a player, the relationship with the coaches and the family atmosphere made me want to play here.
- What is one word that describes you? Resilient
- What is one of the biggest challenges you faced as a coach? Stepping out of my comfort zone and being more social.
- If you coach any other sport, what would you coach? Volleyball, I was a middle blocker, so I know volleyball.
