Women's Soccer Earns First Win of Season With 2-0 Victory

Coleman, Santana-Goulbourne score first-half goals as Lady Bulldogs dominate Yellow Jackets in home victory

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (Oct. 28, 2026) — South Carolina State women's soccer delivered a strong all-around performance Wednesday night, capturing its first victory of the 2026 season with a convincing 2-0 shutout of Allen University at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.

The Lady Bulldogs (1-14-1), under second-year head coach Andrew Richardson, controlled the match from start to finish, using first-half goals from Victoria Coleman and Kelis Santana-Goulbourne to secure the victory over the Yellow Jackets (0-10).

SC State wasted little time establishing its offensive presence, striking just 59 seconds into the contest when Coleman found the back of the net off an assist from Jaelyn Moore.

The early goal, Coleman's first of the season, gave the Lady Bulldogs immediate momentum and a 1-0 advantage.

The Lady Bulldogs continued applying offensive pressure before doubling their lead in the 34th minute. Santana-Goulbourne scored her first goal of the season at the 33:58 mark, converting an opportunity set up by Coleman to give SC State a commanding 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Coleman led the offensive attack with a goal and an assist while recording three shots, including two on goal. Santana-Goulbourne added a goal on two attempts, while Moore contributed an assist and two shots on goal.

Defensively, SC State delivered one of its strongest performances of the season, limiting Allen to just one shot over 90 minutes.

Junior goalkeeper Jada Gittings, a Hampton, South Carolina, native, anchored the defensive effort, playing all 90 minutes to earn the shutout and her first goalkeeper victory of the season.

The Lady Bulldogs dominated nearly every statistical category, outshooting the Yellow Jackets 13-1, including a 6-0 advantage in shots on goal. SC State also held a commanding 10-0 edge in corner kicks and controlled 73% of the possession.

SC State continued attacking throughout the second half, recording eight shots and nine corner kicks while keeping Allen from mounting a serious comeback.

Vanessa Coleman provided an offensive spark off the bench with two shots, including one on goal, while Kyndall Jenkins added two attempts. The Lady Bulldogs' defense remained organized throughout the contest, preserving the two-goal advantage until the final whistle.

The victory provided a positive milestone for Richardson and his squad after a challenging season, highlighting the team's continued determination and ability to finish strong.
