MONTGOMERY, Ala—South Carolina State softball and first-year head coach Nayeka Hall posted a strong showing over the weekend in the HBCU Celebration Bowl Softball Classic hosted by Alabama State.
The Lady Bulldogs (3-6) jumped out to a slow start dropping a pair of contests to Grambling State (L, 3-6) and Alabama State (L, 3-4) during tournament play.
SCSU managed to bounce back to capture impressive wins over Alabama State 6-5, Jackson State 7-4 and Claflin 10-2 to finish with a 3-2 record.
NEXT UP: South Carolina State returns to action Saturday Feb.28 versus former MEAC rival N.C. A&T State in a 1:00 p.m. start, followed by a 3:00 p.m. first pitch in Greensboro, NC.
