NORFOLK, VA – South Carolina State senior
Dexter Ratliff won two events, set one of two school records and erased one MEAC championship mark on his way to capturing Outstanding Field Athlete honors at the three-day (May 6-8) Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Norfolk State at Dick Price Stadium.
Also establishing a school record was the men's 4x400 meter relay team of
Isaiah Vertus,
Jacob Alexander,
Jaden Barker and Jovan Brooks, which was clocked in a time of 3:06.91, erasing the 43-year old mark of 3:07.30 set in 1981. In addition, the SC State teams combined to establish a number of personal records as well as several season-best showings.
Ratliff won the men's discus (50.93m) on Monday and added the hammer on Tuesday with a record-setting toss (55.21m), breaking a five-year old MEAC record, and also eclipsing the school record of 54.34m which he set earlier in the year. The two wins gave him 20 points and he added another point in the shotput to give him enough to take MEAC Outstanding Field Performer accolades.
