Orangeburg, SC—Jebreh Harris has been named assistant cross-country/track and field coach at South Carolina State. Harris began his duties on February 1.
            Harris joins the SC State staff after serving the past season five seasons (2004-2009) as a volunteer-assistant coach at his alma mater University of Tennessee-Knoxville (UT). While at UT, Harris also served several years as a track coach with the Knoxville Track Club working with the youth program. He also has spent time as a sports specific/personal trainer (Performance Training Inc.) Where he has trained several world class athletes and designed workout for clients with particular needs.
            Harris had an outstanding collegiate career while competing at the UT. He was a Two-Time All-American (DMR, 4x4) and was a member of the 2001 SEC and NCAA Championship Team (800m, 4x4). 
After Harris completed his collegiate career, he went on have a lucrative pro-career. After college he went on to sign with the Holyfield International Track Club (owned by professional boxer Evander Holyfield) and in 2005 Harris signed with Reebok. As a professional Harris was a 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials Finalist in the 800 meters. In 2007 he ranked as high as #2 in the USA in the 800 meters by Track & Field News and in 2006 he placed third at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in the 800 meters and was a member of the American Record Breaking 4x800 meter relay team (7:02.82-Brussels). Harris had a personal best time of 1:45.5 in 800m. In his years at UT and his pro career, Harris has been coached by George Watts of The University of Tennessee
            Harris received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from the UT in 2002. He is a member of the USA Track and Field Association and holds several certifications, including USATF Level I certification; CPR/AED certified and is currently studying for his International Sport Science Association (ISSA) certification.

ORANGEBURG, SC— South Carolina State will induct ten (10) new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. The ceremony, which is open to the public, will be held at the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center on the campus of SC State. Donations for the induction ceremony are $50 per adult, $35 for children 15 and under and $450 for a table of 10.

ORANGEBURG, SC -- SC State University confirmed Monday that it has joined other Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) schools in discussions concerning the proposed 2011 Legacy Bowl that would match the champion from the league against the champion from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC).

ORANGEBURG, SC  – South Carolina State will induct ten (10) new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame Friday, Sept. 10, 2010. The university will also honor the 1988-89 men’s basketball championship team and the 1990-91 women’s volleyball championship squad. The inductees and teams will also be presented at halftime of the Mississippi Valley State - S.C. State football game the following day, Saturday, Sept. 11.

SC State University regrets to announce the passing of former SC State volleyball player Erinn N. Phillips. Phillips passed away today in her hometown of Inkster, MI after battling an extended illness. Phillips, 22, was a setter for one season (2007) for the SC State women’s volleyball team.
