NORFOLK, Va., – South Carolina State redshirt freshman linebacker Darius Leonard was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week , the conference announced on Monday.

North Carolina A&T's Kwashaun Quick was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Marquell Cartwright earned Rookie of the Week honors. Howard's Toree Boyd was selected as the Offensive Lineman of the Week and Mykael Martin of North Carolina Central was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.

 Leonard (LB, 6-3, 200, r-Fr., Lake View, S.C.) finished with a game-high 13 tackles, 12 solo, with two sacks for 17 yards, and 3.5 tackles for a loss of 20 yards in a 34-17 win over Florida A&M.  He also forced a fumble and a quarterback hurry in the win.

Javon Hargrave (SCSU) posted five tackles, four solo, with two for a loss of five yards including a sack.  He also forced a fumble and broke up a pass in the win over Florida A&M.

Jerome Pettiway (SCSU) averaged 43.0 yards on three punts, including a long of 48 yards, in a win over Florida A&M.

 Jalen Simmons (SCSU) rushed 21 times for 204 yards, including a long of 64 yards, in a win over Florida A&M.
