Palmetto Capital City Classic Press Conference To Be Held

COLUMBIA, SC—The Palmetto Capital City Committee (PCCC) will hold its Kick-off Press Conference on Tuesday, July 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Columbia Convention Center.

This year's event will be held in the Richland Room A Conference Room and will announce the teams and activities leading up to the Thirteenth Annual Palmetto Capital City Classic.

Hall of Fame Coach Willie Jeffries, Executive Director of the Palmetto Capital City Classic, will introduce the participating teams and present the respective Athletic Directors for both teams to the Media and the public. Coach Willie Jeffries will also announce the complete schedule for this year's Classic week events.

During the press conference, Mayor Steve Benjamin will make remarks on behalf of the City of Columbia. The honorable Norman Jackson, Chair of the Richland County Council and Scott Powers of the Columbia Regional Sports Council, will also be on hand.

The City of Columbia and Richland County have been long-standing partners with the Palmetto Capital City Classic Committee, and have supported the Classic for the past twelve (12) years. This year's Classic will be the thirteenth annual game and will feature an array of scheduled and planned events including the PCCC Golf Tournament, PCCC R&B and Jazz Old School Show. The Pre-game Show and the Battle of the Bands Drum-line Challenge will feature a marquee event from last year's college and high school bands, and an Alumni Mixer/Reception.

The 2014 Palmetto Capital City Classic football game will kick-off Saturday, August 30 at 5 p.m. at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium.
