ORANGEBURG, SC – SC State held the first of staggered two-a-drills Thursday with a 9:30 a.m. practice and a 7:10 evening workout, Thursday at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.

Pough called the morning workout, which was conducted in full pads an enthusiastic lively session with some of the newcomers showing some toughness.  I am excited about how the young guys are coming along and fitting into our system, Pough noted.

"We did a lot of team-style and installation type drills," said Pough.  "I like seeing some new faces running around  making plays, so it looks like we have some freshmen that are really eager to play."

The evening session, which was conducted in shells, also featured some individual and team-style drills on both offense and defense.

"The intensity is there from both the newcomers and returners," Pough said. "We have a pretty young team at every position so I am really excited about this group of guys."

Pough noted that in preparation for the Bulldogs first scrimmage it's very little concern when you had some success in the past. You are always worried about how you execute on both sides of the ball, but after Saturday we can evaluate things better and see where we are from this point.

SC State will return to practice Friday (Aug. 8) morning in a 9:30 a.m. workout session in full pads. Media and Picture Day will be held Saturday (Aug.9) beginning at 9 a.m. at O.C. Dawson Stadium, followed by the Bulldogs first scrimmage during the evening at 7 p.m.
