JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The South Carolina State men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed at the 2015 East Tennessee State University Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.
On the men's side, the 4x400 meter relay team of Khoron Nelson,
Chris Gaddist,
Brandon Lowery and
Jarad Jeter recorded the second-best time in school history of 3 minutes, 16.76 seconds to finish in second place.
The Bulldog men got third-place finishes from
Bryson Brown in the long jump (7.08 meters; 23 feet, 2.75 inches),
Brandon Perry in the weight throw (16.45 meters; 53-11.75), and Jeter in the 400 meters (49.49 seconds).
Gaddist and
Demek Kemp finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles (8.28 seconds) and the 200 meters (22.28 seconds).
For the women, Antavia Owens and
Nyeisha Dease ran in the 60 meters and recorded times of 7.80 seconds and 7.98 seconds, respectively in the preliminary round.
Frantia Boudreaux ran a 61.04 in the preliminaries of the 400 meters, while
Jacoy Hutto posted a time of 2:27.22 in the prelims of the 800 meters.
Head track and field and cross country coach
Tim Langford had this to say about his teams' performances: "I am excited to have our kids back form the winter break. We represented well despite being out for so long. It will be great to get back into our regular training routine. As we continue to move forward, I am confident that we will continue to rewrite the record book here at SC State."
Both Bulldog teams travel to Clemson, S.C. to take part in the 2015 Clemson Bob Pollock Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
