LANDOVER, Md. – The SC State men's and women's indoor track and field teams wrapped up competition in the 2015 MEAC Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Prince George's Learning Complex. The men finished in seventh place and the women were 13
th.
"I am pleased with the effort our teams put into this indoor championship. This year we had more MEAC qualifiers in more track events than in previous years. As we move into the outdoor season, I am looking forward seeing our teams continue their progress toward being more successful in the MEAC and NCAA."
On the field,
Brandon Perry finished second in the weight throw after reaching a mark of 53 feet, 6.5 inches (16.32). The Bulldog men got six points from
Demek Kemp after he finished 3
rd in the long jump. He cleared 24-6½ inches (7.48m). Perry was named to the All-MEAC Second Team, while Kemp earned third team honors.
SC State got fifth-place finishes Chris Bonner in the high jump (6-5, 1.96m) and
Anthony Britt in the shot put (50-7½ ; 15.43m). Craishaud Folks cleared 6-3¼ (1.91m) in the high jump to finish seventh.
On the track, Antavia Owens came in fifth in the 60 meters in 7.58 seconds, while
Chris Gaddist ran an 8.23 in the 60-meter hurdles and
Karissa Bertling ran a 25.52 in the 200 meters to finish seventh and eighth, respectively.
SC State also got a seventh-place finish from
Dwight Rogers in the heptathlon (4,389 points).
