ORANGEBURG, SC—South Carolina State junior defensive back Antonio Hamilton was awarded the Hercules Scholarship sponsored by the Tom Joyner Foundation.

Hamilton, a native of Johnston S.C. is a Health and Physical Education major with a GPA (Grade Point Average) of 3.52. He is also a member of the 2014 MEAC Championship Bulldog football team.

For his performance on the field this past season, he earned numerous postseason honors, including FCS All-American and College Football Performance (CFPA) accolades.

Hamilton finished the 2014 season with 15 punt returns for 280 yards (25.6 avg.) and two touchdowns, which led the nation (FCS-Division I-AA). He also earned MEAC Special Teams Player of the Week twice during the season, while finishing ninth on the team in tackles with 36 and four tackles for loss.
