Demek Kemp ran a career-best time of 10.25 seconds to win the 100 meters on Thursday evening at the Savannah State Tiger Twilight Track and Field Meet. Kemp's time of 10.25 currently leads all of Division I in the 100 meters.
Senior
Christopher Bonner and junior
Bryson Brown also won their events. Bonner cleared 1.87 meters to take the high jump title and Brown jumped 7.17 meters to win the long jump.
Jeffrey Jones and
Khorvon Nelson finished second (10.95) and fourth (11.16), respectively, in the 100 meters, while
Jarad Jeter was third in the 200 meters (22.26) and
Elijah Case was third in the 800 meters (1:58.12).
Brandon Lowery and
Moses Kennedy each finished fourth in their races. Lowery ran a 49.92 in the 400 meters and Kennedy finished the 400-meter hurdles in 57.34. Christopher Gaddist and Kennedy took third (14.77) and fourth (14.91), respectively, in the 110-meter hurdles.
In the other field events,
Matthias Williams was the runner up in the javelin with a throw of 32.73 meters. Joseph Brevard was third in the triple jump (13.19 meters) and
Roderick Britt finished fourth in the shot put (11.98 meters) and fifth in the discus (38.32 meters).
SC State turns right around and heads to Gainesville, Fla. to compete at the Florida Relays on Friday and Saturday hosted by the University of Florida.
