ORANGEBURG, SC -- South Carolina State continued preseason football drills Wednesday with an early morning 7 a.m. morning workout at O.C. Dawson Stadium.
The Bulldogs worked out in a 1 hour 30 minute session in full gear, concentrating on special teams and more individual & team-style drills.
"We had a pretty good day and we are finally getting things together," Pough said. "We had a few guys that were out with injuries, but now since we have them back in the rotation we can figure out some things together."
"Tomorrow we go full gear again and get a chance to do some more live drills where we do an overview of what we have been working on the past few practices," stated Pough. "It should be a fun spirited practice in the morning session."
With more than two weeks remaining before the season-opener against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Pough stated that his team is at point where he thinks some of the young guys can step in and play early on in the season.
"I am not as much concerned physically as well as I am mentally about some of the newcomers we have," said Pough. "Sometimes you have some guys that are coming straight out of high school and it's hard for them to adjust to college life with football and school. We don't have that problem our guys seem to be adjusting very well."
The team's annual "Meet the Players Day", sponsored by The STATE Club, will be held Saturday (August 22
nd) at 3:30 p.m. and will be preceded by the second preseason scrimmage at 1 p.m.
