SC State Basketball Teams Host Morgan State Monday

ORANGEBURG, SC—The South Carolina State men's and women's basketball teams will resume action Monday (Feb. 8) against Morgan State in a pivotal Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference showdown at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.

Tipoff for the women begins at 5:30 p.m. with the men following immediately afterwards in a 7:30 p.m. start.
 
Fans who cannot attend the game in the Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center, can listen to the MEAC showdown on 93.7 FM the People's Station and the official station of SC State Athletics, with Paul Harris and Clarence Jones on the air for the play-by-play. There will be no video or live stats available.

THE MATCHUP
SC STATE: The Bulldogs (13-10 overall, 8-2 MEAC) are seeking their ninth (9th) league win after coming off a 88-83 victory over Coppin State on Saturday (Feb.6) at S-H-M. The Bulldog is currently tied for 1st place in the league standings. Three Bulldogs are in double-figures with Eaves leading with way with 16.6 points, and sophomore guard Ed Stephens's chips in 13.8.  Senior guard/forward Gabriel McCray tosses in 11.3 points, while grabbing 4.7 rebounds. All-MEAC Preseason forward/center Darryl Palmer is the leader on the boards with 6.1 and scoring 8.3 per game.
 
MORGAN STATE: The Bears (5-16 overall, 3-5 MEAC) will look to snap the Bulldogs eight-game home winning streak. MSU has three players in double-figures with Cedric Blossom leading the way with 14.0 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Rasean Smith is second with 10.8 ppg and 6.1 rpg, while Phillip Carr is the leader on the boards with 7.2 and 10.2 points.
 
Meanwhile the Lady Bulldogs (9-11 overall, 5-5 MEAC) posted a much needed 67-63 victory over Coppin State Saturday. Brittany Drumgoole leads the team in scoring with 9.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Senior guard Amber Howard is second with 8.5 point per outing.
 
The Morgan State Lady Bears (9-12 overall, 7-2 MEAC) on of the hottest teams in the league are currently in 3rd place in the conference race behind top-ranked Hampton and second place Bethune-Cookman.  The Lady Bears have three players in double-figures with Braennan Farrar with 15.1 points per game, while Tykyrah Williams adds 10.1 points and 4.7 rebounds. Lexus Spears chips in 8.6 points and 6.6 rebounds.
