ORANGEBURG, SC—The defense won for the second straight year in a row in a 16-14 victory over the offense in the Garnet & Blue spring football game with over 500 Bulldog fans and supporters in attendance at O.C. Dawson Stadium.
The offense only two scores came on a 24-yard run by rising red-shirt senior
Justin Taylor. Taylor scored his second touchdown of the day on an 18-yard reception from quarterback
Adrian Kollock, Jr.
The defense accumulated its points after stopping drives by the offense – one point for any stop and two points for turning the offense away on a 3-and out.
Kollock, Jr. threw 9-of-15 for 106 yards and a touchdown, while
Trey Samuel led the rushing attack with 9 carries for 93 yards.
Mykal Moody finished with four catches for 45 yards.
The defense was led by rising sophomore linebacker
Johnell Brown with five (5) solo tackles and
Bruce Johnson with 5 tackles, two (2) sacks, and two (2) quarterback hurries.
SC State will play an 11-game schedule in 2016. The Bulldogs open the campaign on Saturday, September. 3 against FBS foe University of Central Florida in Orlando, Fla.
