STATESBORO, GA—The South Carolina State men's tennis team split a pair of matches over the weekend at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA.
The Bulldogs (1-2) dropped a tough 6-1 decision to host Georgia Southern Saturday (Jan.28) at the Wallis Tennis Center. Senior
Stanislav Baco posted the only win for SC State over Artemie Amari , 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 at the No. 5 spot.
Meanwhile, South Carolina State prevailed in a 4-3 victory Sunday (Jan,.29) over SWAC foe Alabama State.
Alabama State got on the board early capturing the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead.
On the singles side,
Vladyslav Yanchenko def. Ion Efrim 3-6,6-2, 6-2 at the No. 2 spot; Alexsander Stupar def. Carl-Louis Luckmann 2-6, 6-2,6-2 at the No. 4 spot;
Stanislav Baco def. Szabin Pusztay 7-6,6-1 at the No. 5 spot and
Edgar Diaz def. Karlo Skvorc 2-6, 6-1,6-4 at the No. 6 spot to claim the victory.
South Carolina State returns to action Saturday (Feb.4) on the road against Mercer University in Macon, Ga. First serve is 11 a.m.
