ORANGEBURG, S.C. — South Carolina State junior goalkeeper
Jada Gittings has emerged as one of the nation's top shot-stoppers early in the 2026 season, ranking
No. 4 nationally in NCAA Division I women's soccer with 50 total saves, according to the latest national statistical rankings.
Gittings, a 5-foot-7 junior from Hampton, South Carolina, has been a steady presence between the posts for the Lady Bulldogs throughout a challenging schedule.
The SC State goalkeeper entered last week with 33 saves through five appearances and 340 minutes, 43 seconds in goal. She continued adding to that total during the Lady Bulldogs' road swing, highlighted by another strong performance Sunday against Queens University of Charlotte.
Gittings registered
nine saves in 90 minutes against Queens, including seven in the second half. She faced 12 shots on goal and also stopped a penalty kick in the closing seconds of the contest, helping keep SC State competitive in a 3-1 setback.
Her ability to handle a heavy workload has been evident throughout the season. Against The Citadel, Gittings recorded seven saves in 70 minutes, 43 seconds of action.
The national recognition represents another step forward for Gittings, who started 15 of SC State's 16 matches last season and finished the 2025 campaign with
47 saves. She has already surpassed that total during the opening portion of the 2026 season.
With
50 saves through SC State's first seven matches, Gittings is averaging more than seven saves per contest and has established herself as a key piece of the Lady Bulldogs' defensive unit.
Gittings and South Carolina State return to action
Wednesday, Sept. 9, when the Lady Bulldogs travel to face Jacksonville University at 6 p.m.
